Do you Know Why Shaved Door Handles are Important?

The door is probably one of the most important parts of any vehicle. It is where we enter and exit. Without the door, it will be impossible to go in and out so it must be properly planned and well-maintained. It is also important that the door is always secured with proper fitting, lock and handle to ensure security and pleasant appearance.

Shaved door handle is one of the best types of handle that you can use for your vehicle. Shave door, which is also called autolocs or autoloc doors, refers to a door which has no handle outside that gives it a smooth and clean look. The door is then opened through a remote-controlled keychain or though a mechanically hidden cable release.

The shaved door handles are also being used in order to promote security. It has a solenoid inside which does the unlocking and opening of the door. It also has a steel cable for the release of latch inside the door. Since it has no handle outside, the security of the vehicle is at its best.

Shaved door was pioneered by Harry Westergard, a legendary customizer in California. He thought of a better way on how a vehicle door will look smoother and will be more secured. Shaved door handles can be bought with a kit. Commonly, all shaved door handle kits comes with detailed instructions for easier installation, remotes, solenoids and other hardware needed if you will choose to install it at home.

How do shaved door handles function?

The door/s pops to open when the button or the remote keychain is pressed. Most of the times, it is the driver's door that opens first before any other door. It all depends on how the solenoid was installed. When the first door opens after the first press on the button, the second press will be for opening of other doors. If you wish to lock the doors, there is a separate button for locking and an additional one for popping the trunk.

Shaved door handles are important if you want to present your vehicle smoothly and presentably while also maintaining its security.

Do You Know Why Do we Feel Thirsty?

Thirst is one of man’s physiological needs that are basic requirements for continued existence. It is the craving of fluids resulting in the basic instinct of animals to drink. Our body is composed of 5 liters of fluids, blood is 2 liters and about 3 liters is water. When we eat of drink we take in water in our body in various forms, no matter how thirsty or how much water we take in to our body the amount of water in our blood remains the same.

Then, why do we feel thirsty? In our daily activity, such as running, walking, playing or even breathing we losses water. The amount of water that we lose must be replaced to make the water in our body constant. This loss of water is registered in the brain and sends signals to our mouth and throat. This is the time that we feel thirsty.

Many people believed that dryness in the mouth or throat is what causes thirst. In reality, dryness can occur due to other factors and may not be a reason for being thirsty. Some people may still feel thirsty in spite of drinking too much water. This is because the amount of salt content in our blood is change. There is a certain salt and water relation in our blood. When we are having more salts than water, this result to thirst. The “thirst center” in our brain responds to the amount of salt in our blood. When there is a change, the brain sends message to the back of the throat, from there, the message go back to the brain, it is a combination of feelings that make’s us say were thirsty.
Fact file:
Our sense of thirst is controlled in our brain. When the body requires more water, we experience the sensation of thirst. Usually our mouth and throat become dry-a signal for us to drink more fluids...

Do You Know...

...that phenotypic traits distinguishes us from one another?
Each individual has a unique genetic make up that distinguished us from each other. Genes played an important role in this uniqueness. People are recognized by their phenotypic traits. The law of dominance and recessiveness explains why people have curly hairs and some have straight, cleft chin and hitchhiker thumb.

According to this rule you only need one copy of a dominant gene in order to see a dominant phenotypic trait, but you need two copies of a recessive gene in order to see a recessive phenotypic trait. In some cases incomplete dominance occurs when the phenotype of the heterozygous individual is intermediate between the phenotype of a homozygous dominant and homozygous recessive individual.

Curly hair and Straight hair

File: : Curly hair is incompletely dominant over straight hair those who have wavy hair are intermediate. Some explanations suggest that hair is curly or straight, depending upon the number of disulfide bonds between hair proteins found in the hair shaft. The greater the number of links, the curlier the hair and the fewer the number of links the straighter the hair.

Attached or detached Earlobe

Fact file: Ear lobes in people may be free hanging or completely attached to the side of the face. Attached earlobe is recessive and detached or free hanging are dominant. If your father has two recessive alleles for ear lobe attachment then he will have attached ear lobes. If your mother has one dominant allele for unattached ear lobes and a recessive allele for attached ear lobes, she will have unattached ear lobes. This is because the dominant allele always wins out.

A Hitchhiker thumb

Fact file: The hitchhiker’s thumb (thumb tip bends backward more than 30 degrees) is dominant to a straight thumb. A hitchhiker thumb is a genetic traits that is capable of bending the joint in the thumb to extremes which may look uncomfortable to people who lack this genetic trait. You may also hear hitchhiker's thumb referred to as “hyperextension of the thumb” in a reference to this. There is no particular advantage or disadvantage of having a hitchhiker's thumb, and it certainly does not predispose people to hitchhiking.

Cleft Chin

Fact file: Cleft chin is a dominant trait; it masks the expression of the gene for the normal chin. The “masked gene” is said to be the recessive gene and normal chin is the dominant trait. Cleft chin is a facial characteristic that looks like a dimple or an indentation to a person’s chin. It is caused by the failure of the lower half of the jaw to fuse together during fetal development. Observe mostly in men than in women.

Do You Know Why does the Earth Shake when there is an Earthquake?

While the edges of faults are stuck together, and the rest of the block is moving, the energy that would normally cause the blocks to slide past one another is being stored up.

When the force of the moving blocks finally overcomes the friction of the jagged edges of the fault and it unsticks, all that stored up energy is released.

The energy radiates outward from the fault in all directions in the form of seismic waves like ripples on a pond. The seismic waves shake the earth as they move through it, and when the waves reach the earth’s surface, they shake the ground and anything on it, like our houses and us!

Earthquake Facts:

  • On average, about 60 earthquakes per year are classified as significant, with up to 19 classified as major.
  • A significant earthquake is one of magnitude 6.5 or higher or one of lesser magnitude that causes casualties or considerable damage.
  • Major earthquakes have a magnitude larger than 7.0
  • Large earthquakes that originate from the sea bed result in tsunamis, causing huge waves to travel 500 mph (800 km/h) or more toward coasts.
  • There are 2 basic types of earthquakes. A strike-slip earthquake occurs when the rock on one side of a fault slides horizontally past the other. In a dip-slip earthquake, the fault is at an angle to the surface of the earth and the movement of the rock is up or down.
